Shrimp is definitely one of my favorite kinds of seafood to make at home. Why? Because it’s versatile, easy, and inexpensive compared to other types of seafood. Shrimp can be made to put over pasta or rice, it can go in a wrap like a fajita or a taco, or just eaten plain. Even better, it cooks quickly to make busy weeknights a little easier.

Most people tend to stir-fry shrimp, but this fast and easy blackened shrimp recipe calls for broiling. Why? Because it works just as well, and doesn’t require any attention other than putting it in and taking it out of the oven. That gives me 10-15 minutes of free time to prepare for dinner, like making some pasta or setting the table.

Although you can use almost any size of shrimp for this fast and easy blackened shrimp recipe, I prefer to use jumbo shrimp. True, the larger the shrimp the longer they need to cook. However, I think the larger shrimp allow the taste of the shrimp to come through, so I’m tasting not only the seasoning, but the meat, as well.

What goes well with this fast and easy blackened shrimp recipe? I absolutely LOVE the tangy and smoky flavor of the blackened seasoning combined with Alfredo sauce. The creaminess of the sauce cuts the zest in the shrimp. However, it also tastes great alone, paired with some side dishes like noodles and some mixed vegetables.
