There is just something about butter that is so incredibly delicious. As a kid, I had a saying: butter makes everything better. And it’s true! Butter adds a rich and creamy flavor to most dishes, especially your bread. Although I do prefer a good dipping oil for its health benefits, this simple garlic herb butter recipe just can’t be beaten!
The flavor of this garlic herb butter recipe will depend on the quality of the butter used. Although I don’t use butter very often in my home, I absolutely purchase REAL butter when I do use it. That includes this recipe. Unfortunately, no matter which brand of margarine I have tried, it’s just not as creamy or exquisite as real butter. Can you use margarine? Of course! But just know that it will not taste the same.
Although I do use salted butter for this recipe, I choose to omit any additional salt. Why? Because as a dietitian, I try to use as little salt as possible for my family. Although I have tried making this with unsalted butter, it really does need that extra bit of salt to really bring out the flavors of the other seasonings. You can certainly add more to this garlic herb butter recipe, although I would encourage you to try it without first! I have also omitted any black pepper, as I feel it is too spicy and takes away from the rich and savory flavors. However, black pepper can also be added to your liking.
How can you use this garlic herb butter recipe? It can be added to almost any grilled meats as a marinade, such as steak, shrimp, or chicken. It’s also a delicious way to add flavor to your stir-fried or baked vegetables, or just eaten with some delicious fresh bread. My personal preference? Spread it on a fresh loaf of crusty Italian bread to make garlic bread! For storage, cover tightly and store in the refrigerator.
Garlic Herb Butter Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) Salted Butter
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Parsley
- 1/8 teaspoon Dried Oregano
Directions
- In a small dish, melt the butter
- Gently mix in the garlic powder, parsley, and oregano
- Place in the refrigerator, stirring every few minutes until the butter starts to solidify. Once it starts to solidify, cover tightly and let sit
